Soulful
A new approach to Improving Wellbeing Within Young Adults.
Collaboration With Gabby Aicken
Today, New Zealand young people are facing a rapid decline in mental, physical, and social well-being.
Research suggests a large contributing factor is a lack of social connection, reduced physical activity, and limited outdoor engagement.
Collaborating with Gabby Aicken, we developed "Soulful"-a mobile app designed to enhance well-being within young people through interactive outdoor challenges.
Players adopt their own bird and personalize it by completing real-world scavenger hunts, puzzles, and exploration-based activities at various land and water locations. The bird’s health and happiness reflect the player’s own well-being—when they stay active, explore, and connect with others, their bird thrives. Without even realising it, players are looking after themselves as they care for their virtual companion.
Digital leaderboards displayed around the city showcase top players each week, motivating users to engage more, celebrate their achievements, and inspire friendly competition.
Soulful makes movement, exploration, and social engagement no longer a chore but rather something exciting and fun helping young people successfully improve all areas of well-being.
